Athens, Greece: The Norwegian Institute at Athens
and the Ephorate of Antiquities of Euboea of the Hellenic Ministry of Culture and Sports will organize a launch and presentation of our new book “An Island Between Two Worlds: The Archaeology of Euboea from Prehistoric to Byzantine Times.” The book is consists of the a proceedings of an international conference of the same name that took place in the vicinity of Eretria 12-14 July 2013. The conference was co-organized by the Norwegian Institute at Athens and the Ephorate of Antiquities of Euboea and it attracted international group of more than 50 scholars with diachronic interest in Euboean archaeology. The proceedings, the first book of this scope and breath to be published on Euboean archaeology, covers several millennia of the Euboean past and includes, site reports, wide regional studies, and methodological and theoretical considerations.
The book presentation will take place at the amphitheater of the Byzantine and Christian Museum at Athens on Friday, October 6, 2017 at 18:00. The book presenters will be:
Prof. Jorunn Økland (Director of the Norwegian Institute at Athens),
Dr. Pari Kalamara (Director of the Ephorate of Antiquities of Euboea), and
the book’s editors Drs. Zarko Tankosic (Norwegian Institute at Athens) and Fanis Mavridis (Ephorate for Palaeoanthropology and Speleology).
