New Temporary Photographic Exhibition of Erieta ATTALI titled LIMINA

On Thursday, July 8, at 20.30, the Byzantine and Christian Museum has the special honor and pleasure to inaugurate inside and outside its premises “Limina”, a great temporary exhibition of the internationally recognized and award-winning Greek-Israeli architecture and landscape photographer Ms Erieta Attali.
Erieta Attali is Assistant Professor of Architectural Photography at the Irwin S. Chanin School of Architecture and at the Cooper Union in New York (Jan.2020) and Assistant Professor at the National University of Singapore (Jan.2021).
For two decades, the photographer based in New York and Paris, dedicated herself to the study of the relationship between landscape and architecture in extreme environmental conditions in Eurasia, Australia and America under human caused climate change. Through her photographic lens and where climatic change directly impacts, Attali investigates these effects on humans forced to redefine themselves in relation to the outside world as reflected in the dialogue between architecture and landscape.
After 30 years, the photographer Erieta Attali returns to the Byzantine and Christian Museum, paying tribute to this special place where she once did her internship. The present photo exhibition of Attali entitled "Limina", includes eighteen (18) selected large photographs where architecture is an essential element of the landscape. Photographs are displayed on the ground floor of the Palace of the Duchess of Placentia as well as on the outer walls around the main courtyard of the Museum.
The photo exhibition is accompanied by a photo slide show entitled "Capturing the empty space: Paris confined", located on the right side of the ground floor of the main building. In this screening Attali uses her iPhone camera to immortalize famous buildings and landmarks of Paris, during the restrictive measures due to the pandemic of 2020. Thus, for the first time, a historical period of the City of Light is photographed, deprived of the human presence and its noisy everyday urban character.
