ICON NETWORK

The ICON NETWORK project is part of the ongoing CULTURE Programme 2007-2013, Co-operation Measures (Strand 1.2.1).

The project is coordinated by the Atelier de Conservation/Restauration D’œuvres Peintes, Nantes, France, and has two partners: the Byzantine and Christian Museum from Greece and the Valamo Museum from Finland.

The project aims to set up an international network which will allow cultural and research organizations involved in icon conservation to collaborate in the form of workshops, exchange programmes, exhibitions and publications. The network will also serve as a source of and channel for information relating to icon restoration.

The project includes the creation of an e-library of material relating to Byzantine and post-Byzantine icons, making texts on art history and icon restoration, European museums with icon collections, icon exhibitions, educational institutions and relevant conferences and publications available on the Web.
