Library

open: 09:00-13:00 (Monday to Friday)

The Byzantine and Christian Museum library specializes in Byzantine archaeology and art. Its collection comprises some 15,000 books and 280 volumes of journals sorted by subject and searchable by author and title.

The library is geared to the needs of the Museum's academic staff, but is also open to researchers and students. The library can cater for three readers at any one time.

The library's specialized nature precludes it being open to the general public or its serving as a lending library. The library is open to external users Monday to Friday, 09:00 to 13:00.

Readers cannot access the books directly, and must request the titles that interest them from the librarian in charge.

Should users wish to photocopy pages from a book or journal, there is a fee of 5 cents per page. Rare books, old editions and bulky volumes cannot be photocopied.

The new Library of the Byzantine & Christian Museum was designed and executed with the kind support of  the Alexander S. Onassis Public Benefit Foundation.
